Best hotels near Sydney Airport: how to choose by terminal and budget

Sydney Airport has hotels on both sides of it. Here is how to pick by terminal, early-flight shuttle and budget, with the walks and shuttle trade-offs spelled out.

Sydney Airport has an international terminal (T1) on one side and the domestic terminals (T2 and T3) on the other, and the hotels cluster around both. The best hotel for you depends mostly on which terminal you are flying from, how early you leave and how much you want to spend. This guide sorts the 19 hotels we cover by those three questions.

Walking times, shuttle hours and prices below come from the airport's own pages, hotel listings and guest reviews. Where sources disagree we say so, and you should confirm the detail with the hotel before you book.

Start with your terminal

Flying from T1 (international). Three hotels are close enough that the transfer is short or nonexistent:

  • Rydges Sydney Airport Hotel: the airport puts it 181 steps from the T1 check-in counters. A free Terminal Transfer Bus links it to T2 and T3. The easy choice for an early international departure.
  • Aerotel Sydney: inside the international terminal, and bookable by the hour as well as overnight, which suits layovers and very early starts.
  • Novotel Sydney International Airport: under a kilometre from T1, with a paid shuttle (reported at about $10 to $12 a person each way) and Wolli Creek station a 10 to 15 minute walk away. We have not confirmed the walk to the terminal.

Flying from T2 or T3 (domestic). These hotels are nearest the domestic side:

  • Mantra Sydney Airport: a few minutes' walk to T2 and T3 according to the airport's page, though one listing says about nine minutes. No shuttle is listed.
  • ibis budget Sydney Airport: a few minutes' walk to the domestic terminals, with a hotel shuttle to T1, T2 and T3 from 05:00 to 23:00.
  • ibis Sydney Airport: about a ten-minute walk to the domestic terminal and station, according to one listing, with its own shuttle.

If you would rather take a shuttle

Several hotels sit a little further out and rely on a shuttle. Check the first departure against your flight, and ask whether it is free or paid.

  • Moxy Sydney Airport: a shuttle every 20 minutes from 04:45 for domestic and 05:00 for international, booked by time slot. Check whether it is currently free.
  • Pullman Sydney Airport: a paid shuttle to all terminals (one review says about $7 a person). The airport precinct's only five-star hotel, according to that review.
  • Stamford Plaza Sydney Airport: a shuttle to both terminals for a fee (about $6 per one guide). A large conference and business hotel.
  • Crowne Plaza Sydney Airport: about 1.5 km from the domestic terminals, so not walkable, with its own shuttle to the domestic and international terminals.

Budget options

  • ibis budget Sydney Airport: listed from $119, close to the domestic terminals and with an early shuttle.
  • Travelodge Hotel Sydney Airport: about a 15-minute walk to the domestic terminal. Sources differ on the shuttle: about $10 a person a trip, or free when booking direct.
  • Holiday Inn Express Sydney Airport: not walkable, with a paid shuttle on request (about $12 a person each way in a July 2026 report).
  • Sunny Rooms Mascot: a small guesthouse with about nine rooms. Some Booking.com rates show a free taxi ride. Something different from the big airport hotels.

Apartment-style stays

If you want a kitchen or more space, for a family or a longer stay, look at Adina Apartment Hotel, Citadines Connect, Meriton Suites Sydney Airport, Meriton Suites Mascot Central and Quest Mascot. Most rely on a shuttle, some are paid, and several shuttle details are not confirmed, so check before you book.

Quick picks

  • Early international flight: Rydges, or Aerotel if you only need a few hours.
  • Early domestic flight, travelling light: Mantra or ibis budget.
  • Tight budget: ibis budget, then Travelodge.
  • Need a shuttle at 5am: Moxy (from 04:45) or ibis budget (from 05:00).
  • Family or longer stay: one of the apartment-style hotels above.

Before you book

  1. Check which terminal you leave from, and whether the hotel is walkable to it.
  2. Compare the shuttle's first departure with your check-in time, and ask what it costs.
  3. Read the cancellation terms. Early flights change.
  4. Look at recent guest reviews for noise, which matters near a flight path.

Our hotel pages list walking distance, shuttle and who each hotel suits. To compare prices, check Rydges on Booking.com or use the button below.
